Michael
still resides in Columbus, with his wife Linda and his
three children, but it is his granddaughter, affectionately
named "Ali", who lends her voice to "Jesus
Song", which is a single on One True North's newest
CD One Heart. Michael gave it this title because he
says, "My whole heart is on this CD, it's everything
I am." The commitment he's made to spread the gospel
is certainly a far cry from his younger, pre-Christian
days.
He
laughingly admits, "I was having a great time in
life, and had no reason for God." He tells a story
of how, years ago, he used to play in a bar next door
to a small church. He noticed a preacher ministering
to about a half dozen people. Little did Michael know
at that time that he himself would also minister the
gospel some day. The young passionate preacher Michael
had seen was Pastor Rod Parsley of World Harvest Church.
Michael's
desire for a relationship with God began after the Columbine
High School tragedy. He'd heard on the news that a 14-year-old
girl was asked before she was murdered, if she believed
in God. When she confirmed she that she did, the gunman
took her life. Michael was inspired by her commitment,
and at that moment, had a paradigm shift. He wanted
to know the God she believed in. With the words, "I
WANT MY LIFE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE", written on
her backpack, just a few feet from her lifeless body,
Michael embarked on a journey that would make the difference
in his life.
Over
the years, Michael has grown in ministry. Portions of
his CD sales have gone to many charities including The
Children's Hospital, The Ronald McDonald House and The
Ohio Christian University. Also a scholarship fund with
Clark Kellogg has been started to provide student funding
for Christian universities. Michael's construction company
has donated labor, materials, and money to The Ohio
Christian University and he's provided scholarships
for kids to attend World Harvest Bible College in Columbus,
Ohio.
Michael's
work has just begun and he wants his life to
make a difference.
